Youth Poll 2008

For 16 years, Senator Stott Despoja has produced Youth Poll to give young people a say on a variety of issues including education, health and employment.

This year marks the Senator's final Youth Poll in her capacity as a Senator for South Australia, and she is urging the new Minister for Youth, Kate Ellis, to adopt the initiative.



Youth Poll 2008 Launch

On Friday, May 9, 2008 Senator Natasha Stott Despoja, with help from Nova 919 personality, Hans, launched the results of  Youth Poll 2008 at Goodlife Organic Pizza Bar in Adelaide.
 
This poll - the Senator's last as her Senate term ends on June 30 - found that while the internet plays a critical role in young people's lives, more than one-fifth report they or a friend have been bullied or harassed online.

Youth Poll 2008 also found: 58% of respondents support same-sex marriage; rates of binge drinking, smoking and other drug use have declined compared to previous polls; and, body image is a major concern to 54% of those surveyed.
